Kanchu Suiyoku (midwinter bathing) at Teppou-zu Inari-jinja Shrine
"Kanchu Suiyoku (midwinter bathing)" is one of the special features of the New Year in Chuo City.
One of the most popular events in Chuo City held during New Years. People of all ages participate. The Michihiko (leader) is invited from Jinja-cho of Tokyo and the participants carefully perform exercises of Torifune before bathing in a tank of water. It is a shinto ritual wishing for good health.
